amp rookie question (sorry)
The PPI 480 bridges 3&4 into 320 watts @ 4 Ohms.
It is rated as follows:
4x80 @ 4 Ohms stereo
4x160 @ 2 Ohms stereo
2x320 @ 4 Ohms mono (bridged mode)
Bridged into a 4 Ohm load, each channel "sees" 2 Ohms, and you'll get the full 320 watts. I don't believe this amplifier is rated as being stable for 2 Ohm bridged mono operation.
I'm seriously considering this amplifier for my upcoming system (wife's Civic is getting all of my old stuff). The front channels would drive ~120x2 into a pair of Boston 6.5 Pros (3 Ohm speaker), while the back channels bridge to 320 watts for a single 12" sub (@ 4 Ohm). Not bad, considering you can pick up this amp any day of the week for $350 on Ebay, brand new even.
