I actually mounted my amp under the front driver's seat. I have a JL HD 600/4. The reason I chose this amp (It's pretty pricey) is because it puts out a lot of power in a small chassis. Granted the Alpine PDX series is pretty small, it is a tight fit under the seat. The JL HD can slide around under the driver's seat without any problem. It's only about 1.75" tall, so it sits pretty under there.

The only drawback to this amp is the price. MSRP is 899. (I didn't pay that much of course).

I put mine over the fuel tank like this, so they are completely hidden

No, it's pretty tightly wedged in there. I've done a few trackdays with no problems whatsoever
