I would give those a try. Better than MDF. They look to be the correct shape as well. For $25 bucks give them a try and report back.

I bought the same ones for the Fit. I didn't use them because it is basically two plastic rings sandwiched between spacers. It's not a solid piece. I could be wrong but I thought you would want it to be air tight right? I was going to use them only after placing a bead of silicone around the middle to seal it up but there were just too many gaps. Instead I modified my stock Fit baskets instead.

No you dont want to seal them. Most cars speakers are not designed to run in a sealed type enclosure. It should be a vented support. If you want better sound out of your doors your should install a sound deadener.

There are car audio speakers that will work in sealed door enclosures but not many.

Thanks for the info. But how come when you make them out of MDF, you don't cut holes on the sides? I was just basing spacers with the MDF ones people make.

Not exactly sure what you mean? Its just a spacer... a ring just to mount the speaker that extra little bit off the door metal.

I was talking about the spacer. I was mentioning in my earlier post that the Ebay spacers are not a solid piece that it has gaps in the middle part of the ring. Would it be better to have a spacer that is a solid piece or one that has holes in it like swiss cheese?

I bought a pair of these a couple months ago for a set of Image Dynamics components. The mids were a bit too large to fit into the interior circumference of the eBay spacers but the material is easily shaved/cut to accommodate the fit. They now have a very snug fit.

Since the spacers are basically made of two different plastic pieces screwed together with smaller plastic blocks separating the spacers, I filled the gaps between the two rings with Liquid Nails to reinforce each unit.

They now fit very well in the stock location. Plus as an added bonus, the screws that hold the stock speaker basket in place can be re-used to secure the new bracket to the door panel.

Hope this helps, Scott.
