Default Anyone put 6x9's in the door?

Without major modification? Got some sweet Eclipse 6x9's sitting around collecting dust. Got them brand new for free (not a 5 finger discount).

Not one person in the 7+ years I've been on this board have put 6x9's in the doors...

It would require a good deal of modification to the door panel to fit them in the door. In fact depending the speakers basket you may have to cut the metal frame of the door to get it to fit...

The only 6x9's I've see in an S2000, were mounted in the rear convert. top tray. I never heard them in person, but I would think having your speakers under you folded top wouldn't sound that great.

Honestly you should just sell them and get a new set of component 6.5's that will properly fit in the door with little or no work.

interesting idea... lots of bass can come from 6x9s

watabout on the side of the tunnel? what i mean is next to the driver's right knee, and where the side pocket is on the passenger side.

any thoughts?

Its ok Tsuchiya... we'll chock that one up to you just weren't thinking

6x9's will only fit in the door with some nice custom work.... They won't fit in the panels behind the seats... This car is just not conducive to installing 6x9's.

My friend managed to fit a pair of JL 7.7" marine speakers in the doors of his Miata and has some tremendous mid-bass out of those suckers. With the shape of the steel inside the door on the S though, even that would take quite a bit of work.

These can be made to fit into the door... no problem at all... hell if I can fit a 3way component set in the door I'm sure I could fit a set of 6x9's in there no problem. It all comes down to how much your willing to spend to have them custom fitted to your door panels.
Just a bigger pic of the one in my sig:

You *can* fit 6x9s into the doors with some minor dremel work, but why would you want to? 6.5" components are far superior in sound quality. I know you have them laying around, but would you rather use some 6x9s and cut up your doors, or just buy a nice set of 6.5's?

Cut the whole door up and throw a shallow 10" in there too
