seems the problem isn't necessarily with your software... or what you are doing. A buffer underrun is usually when the data is not getting to the cd quickly enough.

If your work computer is old, slow, or bogged down with too many programs, that'll do it. Since your pc won't even play the mp3s, the cd isn't even getting burned correctly. Maybe try the lowest possible speed (even if it takes longer to burn). If that doesn't work, you could either try different software (which may or may not help), or, as someone suggested, buy a burner for your home computer, assuming its not really old too...

the computer at work is a pretty high end machine designed for 3d modelling. i cant imagine its having that much difficulty with memory with 2gigs of ram and dual core.
i think its just an issue with windows2000 being dated for this kind of easy burning.
i think im just gonna get that cd burner for my home computer. im going to have to jump through beuraucratic hoops to "upgrade" my OS to XP.
ive burned through all my cd-r's already... *cough*

what, thats ridiculous then. Call up your help desk or IT guy and tell them whats going on. See if you can recreate the problem first, maybe by burning some 3d models or something, so your IT guy doesn't have a fit that you're burning mp3s on your work computer. Make them fix it. A computer like that shouldn't have any problems burning mp3s.

It doesn't sound like the machine at work is the problem hardware wise unless its the burner itself. Win 2000 is a fine OS for most things, including burning CDs. It used to be my OS of choice until I migrated to XP Pro.
