Anyone use the Eclipse AVN5495 with their IPC-106
We finally got our hands on the Eclipse Ipod interface for their AVN decks.
This thing is supposed to plug into through the Eclipse BUS connection and show up as a CD changer on the unit.
According to the manual the 5495 is listed as a compatible deck but for some reason we can't get the CD changer menu to pop up as an option meaning the deck is not sensing the connection.
However we can play the Ipod sound through the deck and it charges....however no control of the Ipod whatsoever through the deck!
There is a small box with 2 DIP switches and we've played with it in every combination possible.
Has anyone tried or got this interface to work? The IPC-106 is listed to be definitely compatible with the AVN-6600 which we have yet to try but I know many of you including me own a 5495 and want the Ipod function.
Let me know...we'll keep testing in the time being.

rick

You get limited Ipod functions with it. Example disc one is playlist, disc 2 artist and so on. Tap the track button to jump songs, hold for a couple seconds to jump lists.
The instructions say which setting to use, you also have to reset the unit for it to recognize. Do you sat radio linked also?

I read the manual like 5 times, it lists the 5495 as a compatible deck but right now the unit won't even pop up with the CD changer mode! I can live with the limited functions...
The 5495 is a 2005 model so I'm using
SW1 = A
SW2 = B
How do you reset the unit? I've tried unpluggin the battery and letting the deck reset but still no avail....
(*no Sat. radio nor cd changer on my AVN5495)
thanks,
rick

Thanks buddy, I think you are right - talked to Eclipse tech.
Going to get the update this week and will post result
The update was originally listed on their website for Sirius radio but I guess this also effects the Ipod unit.
thanks again!

Well I got the Eclipse update disk burned onto a CDR as instructed and supposedly you just load the disk and the update begins automatically....I get nothing!
My biggest problem is that the 5495 deck does not even recognize the unit since it won't give me a CD CHANGER option in the Source menu so I can't even select that source....
My settings are at "A" (SW1) and "B" (SW2) right now for 2005 decks as stated in the manual.
Help...going to call tech again on Monday

Please let me know the results. My 8445 has lost some of its limited iPod functionality. I have SIRIUS, so it's more limited than "normal."
My iPod no longer reads "Eclipse" and I can no longer advance or rewind a song. The iPod controls themselves work. I could live with it except for the fact I would've passed on a glorified $100 iPod charger!
By the way, I keep looking at your PDX amp set-up. Jealous I am.

UPDATE: 7/13/06
I tried re-buring the software using a different program and it works now - the unit took about 15 minutes to update and then did a full reset of the system.
On the 5495, you are essentially using the Sirius controls to operate the Ipod - sound is great but you get limited control of the Ipod.
I have not really used it much since I'm still burning music into my harddrive but I'll post some results later. At least it's charging the unit and I can forward tracks for now so I'm a happy camper
Never used the 8445 so not sure why you would "lose" functions after it works....hmmm
