AP1 Cassette to AP1 CD Radio
You trying to fit a cassette player?
The North American wiring manual shows no year-based radio wiring -- it's all the same.
So myguess is the only differences in the radios are internal. External power, speaker, and other connections shouldn't matter. Speakers, for example, don't care what interior audio source supplies the sound -- and actually the amplifier does this and doesn't care either.

Thanks, my car is a 2000 AP1, and I purchased it from Dubai. It came with a cassette player with a cassette jammed inside. I found a 2001 CD AP1 radio and will replace it shortly. I don't care about external radio controls, like on dashes and steering wheels. My S2K appears to be the only one in Armenia where big tank-like SUVs and German cars are preferred.
It was so hot in Dubai that nearly every rubber piece on the car had disintegrated, all of which I have since changed.
I will report back on the replacement's functionality.
