Default Applying liquid sound deadener to exterior

Hi All,

I'm thinking about buying some liquid sound deadener such as Quietcoat to apply to some exterior pieces like the wheel wells and underbody of the vehicle.

The instructions for applying most of these products say to make sure that the surface is prepped by cleaning with degreasers and alcohol. Well I just checked some of the areas I would be coating and they are filthy. My rear wheel wells don't look like they can ever been as clean as they should be before application.

How did you clean the exterior surfaces? Right now it looks like the cleaning process will take 10x longer than the actual application process.

I would approach your cleaning on a multi chemical attack if you have built up dirt. I would start witha soaking of Dow tub and bath cleaner (scrubbing bubbles ) and let that sit for 15 min. Use a stiff brush to remove and then do the process again to remove as much dirt as posible . Then use a strong solution of Dawn dishsoap which is a strong degreaser.

For really built up grease I would use goop off which is a citrus cleaner that really cuts through grease. CLR is another product which I use alot which is a mild acidic that removes rust and calcium deposits. Make sure you rinse really well and use alcohol as your final step.
