Im looking at getting a Alpine ida-x303 and adding 2 rear speakers (5.25") and 2 rear tweeters (0.75") to add to the stock speakers and tweeters.

what amp should I get that will be enough to power this and leave room to spare? Suggestions?

 

Don't bother with the rear speakers.

Spend the money on better front speakers and tweeters, and get a suitable amp for those.

 

I've got to agree about the rear speakers. I've got them in my car and they don't really do a whole lot other than fill out the soundstage due to being blocked by the seats.

Buy a 4 channel amp that pumps out at least 50w x 4 RMS (ideally 75-120w) and then get a sub + box as well. Bridge the amp so that it provides power to both the two front speakers and the sub. Ideally it's best to have one amp for the speakers and one for the sub.

 

Rather than rear speakers (blocked by seats) --- are they still selling the S-Pods for the headrest?

I've got upgraded HU, Door speakers, Tweeters and Amp but still feel like the sound is muffled/below and think that the rear/headrest would help to properly fill the space and sound.

 

I have a 4ch amp pushing 4 speakers. I know some have said they're not happy with rear speakers but I've enjoyed mine. I'm 6'2'' but like to sit close to the wheel and I also make my passenger not lean all the way back thus sound is not trapped.

In terms of amp...just buy a quality name amp - it really does matter - and match up the RMS best you can.

 

I had a 4ch amp...ran the fronts on 2 channels, bridged the 3/4th for a sub and ran my rear speakers from the HU....

 

I have spods in the rear and i am thinking of the same set up less the sub for now. Amp only my fronts and let the HU run the pods...is this smart to do?
