Default AUDIO INSTALL done!

Fisrt off, I would like to thank you all for your valued advice - be it through direct questions and pms, or just through having the information available in this forum. It has been an invaluable source for me during the install!

I would also like to thank Pete (ruexp67) for his help in getting the wiring into the car with me, and finally Jim (PAS2Knut) for his awesome amp racks!

Ok on with the show....

I knew I wanted to upgrade the audio in the car, and although the 04 system is a vast improvement over my old 02, it still was lacking. I thought it better to just go ahead and do everything at one time rather than piecemeal, and things went on from there!

Here's the specs:

Headunit: Alpine CDA-9833
with Modifry DCI

Components: JL XR650CSi

Amps: JL 300/4 and JL 500/1
Mounted on PAS2Knut Amp Rack

Sub: JL 12w3v2
in custom fiberglass toolwell enclosure

I also have a PAS2Knut spare tire amp rack on which sits -

Alpine KCA-410C (Versatile Link) which interfaces:
Alpine CHA-S634 (cd changer)
Terk XM Commander (satellite radio)
Ipod Mini

As i only drive my car at weekends, I decided to make my trunk more show than functional - EVERYTHING is covered in raw carbon fiber.

Took me several months to piece everything together and get the full job done, but I am extremely happy with the end result.

Looks nice.

Just how hard is it to access that CD changer. Seems like it would be a pain to pull everything out to get to it.

couple of minutes - the amp rack slides forward and you're in!

In reality, there really is no need to access it at all. I have some heavy hitting bass cds in there for showing off, and thats about it. For 99% of my listening, I have my ipod, xm radio and of course the cd in the headunit if i want to play an mp3 cd or something. It was a conscious decision to install it that way.

No problem, man. It looks great.

The pictures do NOT do this install justice. VERY clean, and the trunk is WAY cool.

Great Job, Lee.

may i ask? why do you have to use the I-Pod headphone out w/ the Alpine? i thought the Alpine I-Pod adapter covered all that from the standard port on the bottom?

thanks for the props....

wrt to the ipod - I am not using the alpine ipod adapter (kca420i) - i tried it and its just too damn slow for me! instead i got the alpine versatile link (kca410c) which lets me hook up my xm, cd changer and the ipod up as auxillary units on the headunit. the ipod is hooked to it through the 3.5mm jack to rca - and i have to run power to it via the dock connecter (from the 12v socket).

i'm currently waiting for my Zen Touch player to show up, but UPS has it and is using Rita as a lame excuse to not deliver this week... i have the KCA-121B adapter for it... all ready to go, but no player yet, and now no car.
