Audio Setup
I've got some feedback from local guys and want to open it up to wider criticism
With my system, I'm going for SQ over SPL, but would live some decent levels as well.
I'm a sound engineer for bands and whatnot, so I will definitely notice if something isn't right
Here's what I'm planning on:
HU: Alpine CDA-9857 (W/ DCI and iPod cable)
Components: MB Quartz QSC-216
Sub: Wlauret OV.11 10" Drivers side
Amp: Alpine MRVF545 (2 channels for fronts and the last two bridged for sub)
Dynomat: all over trunk and some on doors
Cap: Not sure which brand, but a 1 farad in the trunk
Cabling: probably monster cable
Input or new ideas?
I want it all to look stock inside and I'd like to keep trunk space.

If your a sound engineer then why do you need to ask any questions here?
And I don't mean this in a harsh way, but you should understand the spec's for the equipment you've listed. I would think someone that is a sound "engineer" could look at the specs and know if it will work well together or not.
Either way the gear you listed is nice and should sound great, but you won't need the cap.
Also in your case you'll notice the difference if they are not tuned properly but I would think you'd know how to do that much better than most.

I'm asking because I work with pro audio, not car audio
next concert you go to, look at the sound system and think of me
pro audio and car audio are VERY different animals.
i used to sell car audio at the good guys, but we didnt have most of this stuff.
By the specs, the system should sound great, but I also want to get members feedback if something doesn't work quite how it should. Like if the iPod interface really sucks or something like that.
Seeing a nice sound system on paper is great, but when you change amps, have different speaker location from car to car (meaning MB Quartz might have spec'd the system on a testing wall and I'm putting into an S2000) and all that stuff, there are lots of factors that you won't know about just by reading manufacturers specs
I wrote what I think will work well together amp-wise and driver-wise, but other people that have the stuff might have negative or positive feedback to give.
I just like to hear people's opinions on products before I buy stuff
Just because I'm an audio engineer, that doesn't mean that I am a sound god or that I know everything there is to know

If SQ is your main goal I would take a look at either Focal or Boston Acoustic on the speaker side.
As far as the amp maybe check out either the Audison line up or again Boston Acoustic. Though I have had Alpine HU's and amps by the boatload and still think they make a great product, for true sq i would suggest Focal/Audison.
When it comes to wiring I only use Monster or Tsunami Competition in my cars. Tsunami also makes a nice 1.5 farad cap w/digital readout that retails around $150. Alpine will always be a top notch brand so I think even if your going with the setup you listed you should be in good shape.

I just assumed you'd understand Frequency's, amp's and volts and tuning characteristics. Open concert sound stage may be different, but a frequency is a frequency, a Hz is a Hz.
BUT I guess I'll ask this question then... what kind of budget do you have. That equipment you list IS nice equipment, but if your budget will allow there are much nicer products out there.
What type of music do you like?

true, and i do understand freq's, voltage, amps, yada yada yada, i'm just looking for feedback. like maybe there is a much better product for marginally more that i had overlooked or don't know about.
i have kinda whatever budget. I'd love to keep it under 2k for everything, cause i am planning on sc-ing it soon too, but i just cant stand the stock system, so i want to get that fixed asap
i listen to pretty much everything aside from rap and country.
mostly mellow music, acoustical stuff and r&b, with classic rock and disco/70's a good amount too
nothing with extreme lows though

Ok sounds good.
I would say then your someone that would like a crisp, clean, accurate sound. You could look into Tru Technology amps(very nice, kinda pricey though, and in a convertible could be thought of as to much), Audison like mentioned above, Brax, etc. Very nice amps. As for speakers you could look at Seas Lotus, Focal, Morel, Alpine SPX series and there are more.
For the setup your installing, you will not need a cap at all, as you won't see the benefit.
You'll need to do a little custom work to get a better sound stage than the stock version however. You should customize the tweeter pods on the doors or move the tweeters to the A-Piller to get better sound reflection.

yeah, see, this is what i'm looking for!
i hadn't even heard of most of those brands other than alpine and focal
the good guys carried ok stuff, but i hadnt even known that stuff existed.
is there a good web site you suggest to get more info on those products of just google search it?
