Audio web sites
take a look at crutchfield, they are a little bit high priced but they are known for their tech support. Buy some $1 wire from them and they will help you install anything in your car. If you want something better priced go to ebay.com. They have things ofver their BRAND NEW selling for half the price. Just make sure they have good feedback. Hope it helps
Try Parts Express they have a good selection and sometimes have great closeout buys. Example - bass shakers for $30 a pair. But beware - their advertising is not always to be believed. I've sent several things back because they weren't as described in the ad. But at least they seem to have a liberal return policy.
Also look at Madisound they have speakers and speaker building supplies. They will give you some help with selecting components, but you should have a real good idea of what you want - they're not a "retail" store. Even though they are tilted toward the audiophile buyer (someone who spends 200% as much to get 2% better sound), they frequently have specials and overstocks that are good buys. You won't find any crummy stuff here.
And don't forget Radio Shack.com . Don't confuse them with a regular Radio Shack (although they are the same company and have many of the same things). The dot-com stores have 10x as much stuff as a regular Radio Shack. I'm fortunate to have one of the 3 Radio Shack.com stores in the country in my town.
