Default Basslink 4sc to Power Components

I don't know much about sound systems but i was wondering...

everyone says the first mod one should do to their system is an aftermaket HU. I'm assuming because the power output is very low. Therefore, if I use the Infinity Basslink 4sc to power the door speakers, will the stock HU no longer limit the system? I want to avoid replacing the HU as I have the disc changer and I don't want to spend on the DCI if i don't have to.

EDIT: I just read the FAQ page and it pretty much answered this question. However, can someone explain why the HU continues to hinder quality even after the power problem is fixed? Furthermore, is there any HU that will work with the disc changer?

also, is it true that the sub sounds better using line-level input rather than speaker input?

thanx!

Line-level is pre-amplification from the headunit, speaker input is post-amplification so the poor quality of the amplifier in the stock headunit is already in the stream sent to the amplifier...

so would using a line-level converter then fix this problem? is there any way around buying a new HU?

That will do the same thing the amp is going to do...

The way arround it is to try it out and see if it's good enough for you. If you aren't satisfied with it then you can always add the HU later and run RCAs to the amp then.

You can fit a basslink in a s2k? Do you have any pics of this? I just got my S2000 (never get tired of daying that) and have a basslink from my previous car.
