Free is always the best price in town. Sorry, can't say much about Kenwoods. I've never heard them.

I'm not so sure about that. The stock 'speakers' suck so hard it's nearly incomprehensible.

I guess as a way to try out the concept of rear speakers without spending for real speakers, they would be useful. But if you don't like it, you now have holes in your rear panels. If you do like it, I really think it's worth buying real speakers that match your fronts. Those speakers may not fit the same hole size as the stock speakers.

as for trying to fit the sony 6 1/2 grill over the stock speakers as rear speakers ...

i testing the fittment of the sony grill with my seat position. the sony grills are too thick (i had my seat too far back for my driving position)

You can either do without the grills or make some flat ones out of perforated plastic material. There's not much chance that you'll drop something back there and damage the speaker cone. That's about the only reason you would have for having a grill back there. You hardly ever see them.
