The question can't be anymore clear.

Top of the curve where overall quality meets value.

Thanks anyway.
Your question is so vague. Each person has different perception about sound, some like bright high, others like mid bass... Only you can decide how you like the sound from your system. There are so many speakers to choose from in any price range. The best way is recommended by PJK3, that is you should listen to some speakers in your price range and choose what you like best. It is also importance that what are you going to power the new speakers ? From external amp or from OEM HU or from aftermarket HU ? If you are going to use the power of either OEM HU or aftermarket HU, then you will need efficient speakers, i.e., speakers with sensitivity of 93 dB or higher.

Personally, I like Infinity Kappa Perfect components for the high and it is reasonable priced. Other good quality speakers are Boston Acoustics, Focal, high end MB Quarts to name a few.

Last, but not least, please refrain from insulting anyone until you are certain that person is a joke. PJK3 is well respected in this forum, he always gave the best advices, most of us really enjoy reading his opinions. If you do not get the advices you like in this forum, then go to other audio forums and post the same question to see if you will get what you are looking for.

Best value for the dollar is very subjective, because it goes based on your values.

Saying the S2000 is an ideal car is even subject. It's cheaper and more powerfull than it's rivals, but it's not a suercar by any means. It's a pure sports car, with ride comfort and creature comforts a tradeoff.

But you knew you wanted an affordable sports car. Well, obviously your price range plays into account, because an inexpensive, excellent balanced sports car would be a MX-5. But your budget allowed for something more expensive.

But just ask people randomly on the street what they want out of a car, and they'll all give you different answers. That's why everyone doesn't drive an S2000.

The same goes for car electronics. Everyone doesn't have the same setup, because everyone has different budgets and tastes in music.

Yes, that makes it difficult sorting out everything because you want a good setup and you don't want to get crap. That's understandable, and of course you want the experts to help you pick what is best.

In my previous car, I wanted recommendations and I have a friend whos competed for many years. He wouldn't tell me what to buy. I ended up mimicing his setup at the time and it was a good choice (considering our cars were similar).

I understand where you're comming from with your request, and yes, it seems straight forward and clear to you, but the best value performance setup for your music likes and tastes maybe different than what Phil, Dave, and the others may suggest, which is why they want to know more about you before giving you a recommendation.

I'm looking for the top of the curve, where best value meets best quality and performance, best bang for the buck, overall excellent, "7.5-8" out of "10", 6.5" components for my '03 S.

As there are a handful of roadsters out there and there is only one that is top of the curve where value meet quality and performance. I want the same in a component speaker.

I don't want to read anymore bs as what sounds a tad brighter and what seems a little more punchy and all that crap. I don't want anyone to tell me to go to some audio store full of sales whores who push whatever has more margin.

Tell me what to buy damnit. I want the s2000 of component speakers.

It's not some low end Kenwood comp set, nor is it the Focal K2 or the BA Z6.

Tell me what you know.

Tell me where to go.

Thanks in advance.

(please to all of the above)
This post is a complete contradiction in term oh and BTW stop acting like a total jerk, your the one that asked a stupid question, that gets asked about 3 times a week around here. Try using the search button next time.

Go to a store and decide what sounds right to you!

I'm just getting a glimpse of how serious some of you guys take this s2000 bulletin board.

Some of you really need to get away from the box. Maintain good blood sugar levels and go for a fast drive in your S.

Anyways

I'm running Oz Audio 180 CS components. They're absolutely phenominal and I got them for around $350. Very clear, good imaging, tons of midbass. The tweeter is a silk dome, but it's a bit bright for me unless it's completely turned down. Expect to spend closer to $500 for them. I got a fluke deal and they were taken off CarDomain after my order.
I have a Dynaudio System 240mkII in my Monte. They're also very smooth with great midbass and imaging. Their tweeter is probably a bit too soft for a convertable.

If you want the S2000 of components, expect to spend $350 to 500 online and more in stores.

ADS, Boston, CDT, Diamond, Dynaudio, Eclipse, Focal, Oz Audio, Phoenix Gold, and Rainbow all make some excellent 6.5" speakers. I would highly suggest looking into mounting specs, prices, and power requirements to narrow down your search and then listening to everything you can.

There are some members on this board who you should think twice before you start disrespecting. A lot of guys on here has been around for so long and are regulars, who post informative topics often.

I don't post as much as some ppl, but I am in the electronic's forum quite often.

I have to disagree with you. You came into their house, and your the new-comer.
(well, i didn't meet him at the door w/ open arms, but... jeez, at least most people read a bit or give SOME info about what they want...)
