Default Best alarm for the S2000

Took a trip to Houston, TX and had my car vandalized and my seats stolen. I am now looking into getting an alarm. Any suggestions? I was looking at the Alpine and Clifford's. Pro's/Con's of each? User testimonials? Anyone have the Clifford AvantGuard 4? What do you think about it?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Keying you can't do anything about, but having a thief steal my seats, hopefully an alarm will deter them somewhat, or at least scare them away.

Get an alarm with pagers and a 9mm... when the pager goes off... make sure the 9 is loaded and demonstrate its speed and force to the vandalist... should descurage them...

I think an alarm would stop some people, but not a pro.

What gets me is that, I have been quoted from $300-$500 just to install a alarm in the S2000. That for a Viper or a Clifford.

Yea, it really depends on what you get. You can go to circuit city and get a alarm for like 200-300 installed but, do u want that alarm? You can get the cheapy stuff at circuit city, i paided 300 dollars to have my IG 8000 installed by a pro, 300 for the equipment.

Don't forget the fact that if the thieves cut your battery wire, your alarm is useless. You might want to consider a self powered siren that will keep going off when the battery is disconnected.

Well, I did it. I bought the Clifford AvantGuard 4 and will install it as soon as I get my car back from the repair shop in Houston. I think that this alarm will be best for me and the S2000. Most other alarms you had to build to order to get the radar sensor to detect movement around and in the vehicle. This one comes with it, along with a host of other features which you can read about @ http://www.clifford.com/. They have since been acquired by DEI @ http://www.directed.com/

Got it for $399. Just have to find a decent shop to install it now. I expect another couple hundred for install. Thanks for everyone's help. Will post again once install is complete to let people know how it's working.
