best FM transmitter for iPod mini?
I've played with the iTrip and it is pretty good. Station selction is a breeze.
But I've also seen a number of car charger/remote control/FM transmitters recently that raise the bar a bit.
And then of course there are the proper car kits that mount/charge/control the iPod from your dash controls and feed the audio in through your CD changer bus. Now that is the real way to do it.

I just put in a new Alpine headunit with the ipod controller and a DCI for the dash controls.....I am in heaven. I wired it all up with the ipod connector by the mesh pocket on the transmission tunnel...I hook up my Ipod mini and then put it in the mesh...easy in and out and it is barely noticeable....quality is excellent.
I also have the Monster version of the FM modulator for an Ipod...it is nice in that 1) it is a cool silver/red unit 2) it charges the unit and provides the signal....only downside is that the signal is only over the lower 80-88 range and once again, it is kind of a crappy way to receive a signal...so quality will suffer. I keep it around for use in my 4runner for the occasional roadtrip...otherwise I'd sell it to you.
I would look for one of the direct controllers that plug in to the CD changer port of your HU....only downside is you still have to power your unit (I think???)....for some this is not an issue....for me....I leave my ipod always hooked to my Alpine HU/controller and really never use it for anything else...basically I get in my car, touch the volume button and I am ready to roll with 4Gb of tunes in one of 4 playlists. So occasionally I will open stereo cover and change the playlist...otherwise, I never see anything but the road in front of me.

there are analog wireless modulators, digital wireless modulators, and wired modulators.
they are from worst to best. My xm roady is attached via a wired modulator, even though it came with a free wireless one.
