need help picking headunit
I need help choosing the ideal headunit to complete my ideal stereo setup.
I would like to have my iTouch iPod connected to my headunit while controlling playback through my iPod itself, not the headunit.
I want to be able to control the music from my iPod because I would like to have the headunit cover of my s2000 closed at all times.
Also, It seems that modifry has the best/easiest solution in preserving the dci controls so my only concern regarding my headunit choice is that it has to be compatible with Modifry.
Choosing the ideal headunit for my s2000 has been such a headache.

JVC works great with the iPod/iPhone if you want to control stuff from the iPod. The KD-A815 and KD-A810 models have 3 modes for iPod control - Headunit mode, iPod mode and External mode. iPod and External allow you to control stuff at the iPod. iPod mode passes song data to the display and External just passes the audio stream.
I went through the same problem but with an iPhone and these were the best options. I got the 815 and am very happy with it. Use Crutchfield code 3A825 to get $20 off, free shipping and a free wiring harness.
You'll want to try and verify that it is compatible with the Modifry thing. I put mine in a different car.
The other way you can go is just use a headphone aux in, just about any headunit these days has an aux in. You can get an iPod cable that has both a headphone and a usb (for charging to a cigarette lighter usb adapter).

I'm going to look into that JVC hopefully that answers all my problems.
I have already contemplated the AUX IN solution but most headunits now a days "conveniently" place the AUX IN port at the front of the headunit instead of the back, and since the s2000 has a front cover...the front aux is pretty much useless.
I guess I'm complicating the problem even more since I really want to go with Alpine but idt their headunits will operate as I want them to.
