This does exactly what you describe...

I have one and have only good things to say about it.

Note, it doesn't play CDs - MP3s & radio only.

I have the same model iDA-X001 here in the U.S. I have the ipod cable running under the center council and into the glove box between the seats.

I love it.

Going CD free is quite liberating, I don't miss them at all.

A few pics.

I have the IDA-X001 as well, and love it. I'd also recommend getting the DCI from forum member/sponsor Modifry, which allows you to control basic functions with the stock dash controls. His plug-n-play wiring harness makes connections as simple as possible too... no splicing wires.

Nice unit. I am thinking of switching but was wondering if I can hook up my S634 CD changer. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-09Ewx9dXicJ/A...px?I=500CHAS634

Did you guys have to purchase the ipod interface seperately? If not with the USB port does it charge your ipod and is the scrolling as fast as it is on your actual Ipod unit?

I am currently running an Eclipse CD4000 Deck with Ipod Interface and it works great, but when you scroll through you can only see 1 song at a time, so I am considering switching to the Alpine even though my system wont sound as good cause the Eclipse has a 5v pre out.
