i have carpeted the false wall that i made for my audio setup with some material that i got from autozone, but the grey is too light. what is the best matching material to our trunk color and were do you get it?

Go to a fabric store like Joann's or Hancocks. Look in the felt section. I found some that almost matches the trunk color.
