Thumbs up Best Place To Mount Radar on windwhield

It seems like that most people prefer to mount their detectors high (left, right, or below the rear view). From what I have read, the reasoning is that it is better for radar detection but not as good for laser detection. The middle of the windshield is actually the best compromise but it obstructs your view...but yet everyone still mounts high. Why not set it on the dash? I'm hardwiring my Escort X50 and the radar Roy says to mount any detectors low....on the dash? http://www.radarbusters.com/mountdet...rlyarticle.cfm
from site:
"Consider using Velcro to mount your detector on the dash or using the supplied windshield mounting brackets and mounting it low on the windshield. By mounting it this way, making sure that the windshield wipers are not blocking the front, you will draw the least amount of attention and obtain the best laser and radar detection."

So with this bit of information, is it still a good idea to mount high around the rear view?

Valentine suggests you mount their detectors as high and as close to center as possible.

Mine's immediately to the left of the rearview mirror

Thanks for the inputs guys but I feel like the manufacturers all say mount high.....but radarbuster.com does tests to determine the optimum mounting position. My question isn't what valentine or escort suggests but why they are contradictory.

I mount it left of the RV mirror - as high as possible but still allowing the visor to go down.

Mounting at the bottom of the windshield would result in the rear of the car blocking line of sight of the detector - seriously diminishing it's effectiveness at detecting radar signals coming from behind.

Valentine One says to mount their radar high. If you have a V1, that's what I would highly recommend doing.

Your S is so low compare to any other car, so mount them high is better, its all common sense here. Just dont point the radar up to the sky/low to the pavement u'r okay at RV mirror.

Drive within the speed limit is the best way to safe yourself from accident, off the road or getting tickets.
