Blown Speaker
I bought the car used a few months ago and after messing around I noticed that is had a set of Infinity Kappa 60.5cs in it but no amp. So I bought a RF400.2 and installed it. I think I blew one of my speakers. The amp is rated at 100w per chnl RMS and the speakers from what I can remember are rated at 125w RMS. A few dats after installing the amp my passenger side speaker is making static noices at certain freq. Almost like a high pitch rattle. I want to get a new set of speakers but don't want this to happen to another set without checking things first. What should I do?
Also when I am using my Zune and turn my head unit up loud the sound cuts out but I can turn up the the volume pretty high using the sirius or FM but with the Zune it cuts out. Any ideas?
I should add that I am running it all with a crappy head unit. Just can't afford to get a good one right now with Xmas coming up.

I doubt they are 125 rms. The kappa perfect 6.1's are 100 watts rms, are above the 60.5cs quality. looking it up, shows 90watt max. A 400.2 is most likely way way too powerful. that means 200 watts going to each channel rather than an rmx of 90. I would get a smaller amp.
I have not clue to be honest with you. There isn't a whole lot of options on it. The typical gain, freq and bass boost knobs and then the switch to set the filter pass. I tuned it as one of the FAQ's recomended but I don't believe I set anything to do with ohms. I'll go back and read the manual. Thanks for your help.
Would 2ohm speakers be better?
Anyone know why the mp3 player is cutting out?

Gain will control your output wattage. Set it based on your HU preout voltage and gain sensitivity on the amp, then you will know how many watts go to your speakers. This requires a multimeter and test tones.
Sorry I have no clue about your MP3 player problem. What do you mean sound cuts out, completely shuts off?
