Why are my speakers popping
I have the Boston Acoustics 6.5 component set mounted in the doors and running off of a Lanzar vibe 435 amp. Not a great amp but it fit my budget. The amp and the speakers have been boxed for 2 years since they were in my last S. The amp is rated at 200w rms. Whenever i turn the volume up very loud the speakers will make a clicking popping sound when the bass hits. They don't get distorted though. Just the click popping sound. Are the speakers blown. They did it before when i had them just running off the Head Unit a few weeks ago. I have the crossover on the HU set at 150 for the bass so that I can turn the volume up louder. At the preset 80 it had better bass but cant be turned up nearly as loud without popping. Do I need new speakers?
if you continue you could damage your speakers..
there no way that amp can produce 200W rms per channel.
that amp has 2x 25A fuses and at 13.5v which is what is produced at normal running for s2k. that mean at 100% efficiency it can make 675W total.
but realistically you're looking at 60%. so about 400W max.
you may be driving that amp in to clipping.

So apparently I need a better amp. Any suggestions? So far I have a Kenwood KDC-X692 head unit, the BA Pro 6.5's, and I'm thinkin of adding an 10" polk sub. Whats a good amp to go with these. I'm not able to spend a fortune so keep that in mind.
Before going with another amp, I would suggest trying to see if a local person has another amp that you can hook up to your system.
better than spending money and finding out it was something else.
Also are you planning ont running active set up? just wondering why you're going with 5 channel.
