Default bluetooth handsfree install?

i have this kit and am thinking of installing it in the car. does anyone have experience with this as to the loudness and quality in the s. i would mount a speaker behind the headrest and keep the mic on/hear windsheild pillar (maybe). what you guys think about the windnoise going into mic.

i want to use this because it is a pain to talk when needed and i really dont want to use a headset in the convertible.

let me hear it!!!

I have a Nokia bluetooth kit.. with the roof down the person wont hear you.. i have my mic on the pillar too..
as for the speaker, i have it under the dash.. it is more than loud enough under there.. you wouldn't want it behind your head..(gets loud)

ditto on the motoroal BT car kit. my mike is in the corner of the windshield area and i cant be heard with the top down unless i lean forward and yell. with the top up its a bit better. you dont need the speaker near your head as it should be fine under the dash.

as for the bt kits in general i hope you have a phone with stellar battery life as my moto v551 doesnt even last a full day before dying with the BT on. its hell on the battery life.

A better option is to connect the kit to your stereo (must have mute function). That way sound comes through your speakers loud & clear. Mine is the Sony Ericsson BT HBC 300. My mike sits on the steering column (less windy than the A pillar) and works reasonably well even with the hood down (not well enough to use voice dialling due to background noise). Sony ericssopn phones have crap battery life, so I keep a charger in the car for longer journeys.

all mine can do is mute the radio. i havent seen one that actually plays through your stereo speakers except for the hardwired alpine setup that i dont even think they offer anymore.

The Sony Ericsson HB 300 comes with this feature and was installed in mine very recently. I had it installed by pros when I had my head unit upgraded. It is an Alpine 9855 with ipod connector. When the phone rings it automatically connects through the speakers and pauses whatever you're playing. I don't know whether this feature is available for all head units, but the connection is part of the Sony Ericsson BT kit, not Alpine specific. I think that it should work with any head unit that supports tel-audio mute. I know that connecting it correctly is important, as it sends all sound to the tweeters if these are seperately wired to the head unit. I don't have the technical specs with me now, but if you would like more info I'll post it when I next have a chance.

Check out the Sony Ericsson website.

Connect2 do a bunch of modules to allow you to connect your phone through your stereo. See if they have something to help:

I now have the info for those wanting to have BT handsfree through their speakers. 2 points - 1) this may be UK or Europe specific, 2) it is an accessory by Sony Ericsson.

The Bluetooth Handsfree is the HCB-300
The audio connector is the "Advanced Music Mute HCE-16"

The latter plugs into the speaker out on the BT kit and into the speaker out harness of the stereo. It then allows connection of the existing speaker loom into a third connector. A final wire connects to the speaker mute on the stereo.

See page 3 of user manual

ive seen those. it doesnt really interface with the radio. its basically just relays that switch the speaker wires from the radio's outputs over to the car kits outputs. the radio isnt powering the speakers anymore once you do that the handsfree kit is. id want something more integrated that communicates directly with the radio.
