bluetooth handsfree install?
To properly integrate with a stereo the stereo requires certain functionality. It has to change source to 'Phone' or at least 'AUX' on a signal from the handsfree kit,a nd preferably drop back to whatever source you were previously working when you hang up. I don't know of many headunits that can do that.
Doesn't this thing you're saying that's hooked up to the Alpine HU just the BT kit sending an interrupt signal to the HU?
In our GMC Envoy, we have OnStar and I have an aftermarket (CDA-9820XM Alpine) and when I press the OnStar button, the stereo mutes and then the OnStar is played through the speakers, and when the call is completed, the interrupt signal terminates and the radio resumes as normal.
I'm pretty sure you can get Alpine's Nokia interface in Europe still.
I use a Bluetooth headset, and while the microphone is super sensitive (making it hard when the top down to talk), it still works well, and fits comfortably in the ear you don't even know it's there. Seems to me a better solution than what you guys are proposing?
I could also be crazy.

ive seen those. it doesnt really interface with the radio. its basically just relays that switch the speaker wires from the radio's outputs over to the car kits outputs. the radio isnt powering the speakers anymore once you do that the handsfree kit is. id want something more integrated that communicates directly with the radio.
dont get me wrong. your install is already better then most sine you get to hear through 4 speakers as opposed to 1 tiny one. i'm just the type who likes things to fully integrate like the alpine/ipod adapter. im picky
its the same reason i bought a tivo and returned it the next day as i couldnt stand the way it worked with the ir blaster.

To dig up this subject...
I just ordered the "Parrot CK3100" bluetooth kit, as it's supposed to have the ability to mute the radio, and play through the speakers in the car. Plus, it has a cool separate screen, noise canceling and some other features. I'll let you know what I think of it once I get it installed.
