Default Boston Acoustics Pro60 Componets

Are any of you running Boston Acoustics Pro60 componets?

I demo'ed these speakers last night with the Alpine SPX-17REF's using a CDA-9887 powered by a PDX-2.150. Both speakers sound great, but both have a very distint sound. The Pro60's fill the mid range and vocals great, the tweeters are crisp but subtle (not over powering). The SPX-17REF's have very crisp tweeters that stand out (brighter than the Pro60's). The mid range is good, but when compared side by side... the Pro60's have a much fuller/whole sound.

I loooveee the Pro 60's , buuuttt at the same point an time when your top is down you need a little harsher tweeter to keep up with the wind when the window is down.... bare that in mind...

I disagree; I think the bass/mids tend to get washed out more than the tweets (since the tweets are right at the top of the door panels anyway, provided you are using the stock location). I have Boston SL60 comps and I love them. The Pros are amazing, but you already know that. I'd lean that way.

I went back again (this time with my music on a CD instead of theirs)... the Pro60's were nice, but i've decided on the SPX-17REF's. With the type of music I listen to, the SPX-17REF's really shined. The Pro60's caused my music to drown in too much mid and the softer tweeters couldn't make it through (all EQ's on the head unit at "0" throughout the entire demo). Don't get me wrong, the Pro60's are great! IMO the way they sound would be great for a quiet luxury car or even in home (places where external noises can be kept to a minimum). With all of the road noise our car has, then with the addition to the top being down, I feel the SPX-17REF's (being a brighter speaker) won

Keep in mind that it's all about each person's own preferences.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would label the Diamond Hex tweets (silk dome) as overly bright, and yet they're plenty clear enough at WOT on the highway...

I actually think Boston Pro's are a bit overkill for an s2000. Their clarity is lost with the noisy everything else in the car.

good choice... I have the same alpine speakers waiting to get installed. They will not fit into the stick basket, you may need to mmake MDF brackets or modify the stock basket a lot. Good luck!! I was unable to hear the speakers before i purchased so it was good to get some kind of input on them

I didn't listen to my current speakers (Infinity Kappa Perfects) before I bought them. They have been played for less than 5 hours and i'm replacing them with the alpines. The good thing is, the infinity's have about .25" deeper mounting depth and they installed w/ no problems after cutting the back of the stock speaker basket off with a dremel.

I just test fit the alpines in the stock basket and it was the sides of the speakers that hit the side of the stock basket.
