Default Car Toys extra installation fees...Need Help!!!

I went into car toys to buy a clifford alarm system and it cost $199.00 but then they said they charge a $35 fee to bypass the ignition security system and another $57.50 to have the door lock with the alarm. Has anyone got there alarm installed by Car Toys and if so, did you get charge these strange fees? Not sure if Car Toys is just charging BS fees....so need replies please, asap thanks

I have ever done Biz with car toy, but I have worked for a competitor. This is how they make their money on the installations. If I remember right, don't they have the $1 installs?

The 57.50 is for parts (2 relays and wire) and labor. I assume the 35 is for labor only. I am sure if you shop around you will find this to be true at all major retail chains (BestBuy, Circuit City, etc). the smaller shops will just charge more for the unit and not the misc changes. But some smaller shops do this as well.

No, they said the parts are already included and basic labor installation is also included but these fees are for additional labor to have the alarm work with the door locks and to bypass the ignition security feature, but thanks for the help anyways...still need help please

i hae never used car toys but when i did my last car i had to pay extra for the imoblizer option (had to buy a spare key too) so the remote start would work..

I watched Macgyver install his alarm and it was a BIG job.. I'm sure Macgyver did the install 100x better than a local shop it still was a pia...

so you're not getting a bad price

I think you missed my point, You said "parts are already included and basic labor installation". The other additional charges are for optional features. So this is were they make their money. I know that you (and everyone else) expects the door locks to be part of the basic install, but just becasue the alarm "Brain" can do it, does not make the installation fee-less. If your car did not have power lock there would be addtional charges to add that as well.

I do think that CarToys and others "scam" in this fashion, but the overall cost is inline with the effort required to install the alarm. The installation of an alarm can be more then the alarm itself.
