Default CarPC - EEE

I'm thinking of putting a carPC into my Honda S2000, has anyone ever used the Asus EEE laptop? It seems perfect - with a external 160GB USB drive?
Its nice and cheap to, can anyone think of any draw backs?

it's a nice computer, i'm on it right now actually. It would be easy to integrate it into a carpc since it's so small

The reason I'm considering it is because its so easy to remove from the car to install software, configure, etc, and it'll slide right under the passanger seat.

my car's going to have a carputer fitted shortly. i've had a custom dash built and the cost of the build and standalone audio head unit and front speakers was nearly $7-8k

Carputer is next, which will interface to the audio system through and aux in and there's a touch screen flushed into the passenger side of the dash to help operate the carputer.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to go with a laptop and docking bay, or a carputer dedicated machine.

These mini laptops are great for this sort of thing, I hear the EEE 900 will have optional GPS, which would be great.

The EEE PC is nice... Given, I only surf the Internet and checked mail, before handing it off to my girlfriend.

Road vibration may not be the best thing for the external HD...

Curious to hear what people are doing with computers in their cars... MP3s, Video?

Various things.

Here are what I intend to use it for, but probably not limited to:
1.) Music
2.) Satelite Navigation (an addition to this is using the cellular network to download points of interest, google maps (earth), etc.
3.) ODBII from the ECU
4.) Infrared front cam (our roads are bad enough during the day)
5.) Radar Detector
6.) Handsfree cellphone/bluetooth kit.

I'm not to concerned about the harddrive, you get some decent designed for outdoors mobile drives, even the iPod Classic is harddrive based.

Not to interested in In-Car video.... no real point for the driver.

It helps that I work in IT... making the above list easier for me, and what I don't have, I can write.
