Yea that does look good.
I wonder if anyone will ever try installing the nav thats in the 2006 civic Si touch screen and voice activated, that nav is hot.
My friend has that Si and everything about that system is hot.

I have everything I need, I mean everything! As I already had a carpc before. So, its a matter of running wire, hooking it all up and molding a screen bezel as you have done. My previous install modified the screen bezel, but it wasn't really messed with to much, so I may be able to use it again so I can attach the screen to the new molded bezel, once complete.
I never use those vents anyways, so why not put a screen there and get rid of all the cd's in the car
One thing I could never get working correctly was the iGuidance, It would randomly catch signal but never for a long period of time, so I never got to use it

Might have been a problem with the GPS antenna itself. I have never had an issue with iG. I used to have v1 and I recently upgraded to v3.0 and love it. The voice commands are allways so dead on that I rarely even have to look at the map.

Can you comment on total cost of a project like this? Also if you happen to run into any problems or glitches along the way can you inform us. I'd like to know how efficient this system works and its reliability of nothing going wrong.

OK, my costs:
- Transflective modified touchscreen from mp3car.com: $700
- Old PC (1ghz/512ram is plenty and cheap) $50
- M2ATX powersupply $80
- USB GPS $50
- iGuidance software $100
Total: $980
Thats for just the basics and assuming you will fab you own box for the PC to be mounted on. Add in a mini trackball and keyboard if you want, plus I have XM rigged to my PC which is more as well. It all depends on how far you want to go. Also, you can get an identical touchscreen to mine for about $200 without the trans screen mods. This will be %100 fine at night, but if you want to be able to see the screen durring the day RELIABLY, top up or down, you will want the trans screen. It was a suny day today, and I took it out for a test with the top down. I was so amazed that this screen lived up 100% to the hype. The screen is visble no matter how direct the light is beaming on it. Amazing and worth every red cent!
As far as reliability, I have been carputing for a few years now. You will have a system crash every once in a while, it happens. Remember, it runs off of Windows XP, so it's not fail safe. To me, this is part of the fun as I am constantly tweaking and upgrading it. If you want a install it and forget it thing, this isn't for you. To that end though, I have never had a hardware failure, so that should never be a problem.
For me, this is the only way to go since I cant stand having one thing for music, another for video, one more to add XM, another for GPS. It gets cluttered. Everyhting works seamlessly if you do a carPC right. Music even lowers when the GPS lady gives me voice instructions. I have Nextel, so I can't do it, but the PC can even do hands free phone calls and will pause music when the phone rings, displaying a picture of the caller. If I ever switch carriers I will def add this!
