Default CD Changer Installation takes up NO room!

I had an Alpine 6 CD changer installed today - it's the same as the Honda unit. The total cost including a $50 installation fee and 6% tax was $371. Best part was where it was installed:

It takes up no trunk space and is easily accessible. The space it fits into is the perfect size for the unit and it's a friction fit, which along with a little velcro, makes it a very solid installation.

Very interesting install. I'd like to see pictures with the cover off to see the mounting process.

Just a question? You mentioned in your first post that it was a friction fit. Have you had any problems with it sliding when taking corners hard?

Just put the damn thing under the drivers seat. Mine fits no problem. Held in place by velcro. Much easier...

Another thought that I had was under the lid in the boot where the tool kit is. The tool kit doesn't have to move but you would need to mount it with velcro straps so that you could unstrap it an tilt to change cd's. I like your one but I was thinking of mounting an amp in there later so I ignored that option. Under the seat also has the added advantage that you can change the cds in the cab. What was Honda thinking putting it there in the first place!!! Surely this was thrown in with very little thought if any.

There's 3 strips of velcro that hold it in place.

That's a slick installation .

At first I was going to mount it in the trunk with Velcro so I could remove it if easily if I needed the space. I had read your post earlier about your final mounting place but was a bit squeamish about diong any cutting .

It's amazing what a little bit of thought can provoke on all of the possible mounting places for the changer!
