Default Cellular Headsets while the top is down

as most of you know... in NYS you need to have a hands free kit to use a cell phone in a car *HAH*.

I've been told about a headset called "the boom" http://www.theboom.com/

I was wondering if anyone out there actually had one & used it with the top down..

the demo is awesome.. you can hear the guy whisper in a blackhawk!

But before I drop $150+ on a headset.. I want to speak to a PERSON who's used one

THANKS!!!

I have used the standard headset (the same look as the much cooler Boom) that came with my Nokia 6200 and it worked fine at 65 mph with the top down, on a six-lane freeway. My girlfriend could hear everything I said. I think I had a harder time hearing her than she had hearing me. In any case, maybe you should borrow a headset or try out a $15 eBay headset before dropping so much money.

Just my $0.02. Hope it helps.

I have a headset for my Nokia that has a throat mic on it. It works by picking up the vibrations from my throat. Very cool. I've used it while riding my motorcycle.

It appears that it will suffice. It is similarily built to the Plantronics M series that I hear people raving about.

Personally I use two diff. headsets, as I have two diff phones.

I use the Jabra Earboom which works fine, but is chorded.

I found nothing works better than my Bluetooth phone with my Jabra BT200 headset.

Screaming VTEC, top down and the person can hear my voice clearly assuming the windows and windscreen are up.

Has anyone used the treo bluetooth headset?

http://web.palmone.com/products/Product.jh...10003&cat=20023

It's gotten a good review, and one of the talkbackers has confirmed that it works well even in a convertible:

In addition to sound quality, the other advantage I see with the palm branded set is that it uses the same charger plug as the treo, so I only need one car charger for both.

I'll post a review when/if I end up getting it. If it sucks, let me know before I buy it

I use the Jabra Bluetooth Freespeak 250 with my Treo This is by far the most capable headset of blocking out the convertible wind noise I have ever used (I have gone through about 5 or 6)

The Shure Quietspot is exceptional. For $50 it blocks out what sounds to me like 100% of ambient noise. I can clearly hear both sides of a conversation at 75mph on a six lane freeway. However, I don't think they have a wireless version yet.

Here's another alternative: http://www.clearercom.com/

This works fairly well once you get the adjustment/placement correct on the throat. It works at speeds 65+ but of course u end up sounding like darth vader.

After switching phones i opted for a wireless headset and use a Jabra BT250.

works ok w/ the top down & windows up, but above 45mph u need to cover the mic w/ ur hand to reduce the wind noise.
