Changing the head unit
That works for me. If I have questions in the future I will be sure not to direct them towards children and state the question more clearly so that it is not misinterpreted and scrutinized for detail. So, "whatever" you feel is necessary to mkae yourself feel better. A simple "It shouldn't affect your keyless entry" would have sufficed without the GMC stab. I give credit where credit is due. You don't have to be an ass to know more about something than someone else. I appretiate your answering the question. Just not the manner you used to answer it. I needed information, not insults.
Yes, s2kmugen I am from Austin. I passed through Houston when I picked the car up this weekend from Slidell, LA. My buddy owns a dealership down there so I got the car for $16k and he gave me $5.5k for my trade. Houston is crazy. I saw three wrecks happen on the way back and that was a Sunday morning. You need to be an indy driver to get around. That and the fact that the doctor who owned this car before me had the wrong size tires on the front and some worn out s02's on the back made the rain not so fun. What do you do in Houston? Did you move there for work or something else? I got the Deck installed and put in a deturant LED so when you engague the parking brake it starts flashing. It cost me about $2.50 and makes it look like there is an alarm. I have another question. When the top is down the doors don't lock with the remote. It would make sense that you wouldn't lock the doors on an open car, but i didn't know if that was normal on this car.
Point taken, chilling out, apologise if you were were offended. The point I was trying to make is that I was new to the forum and to this car. Your comments seemed to point that I was some sort of idiot who didn't know the difference between a honda and a GMC. I don't want to piss you off, i'm just letting you know that when someone is asking for help about something they couldn't get a strait answer about from Honda it is frustrating and jokes can be interpreted as insults. I am really sorry, I should have just calmed myself before typing. The total expierence has been a pain from the tires ($735 extra cost) to honda telling me that my alarm wouldn't work with an aftermarket radio. It's my bad and I should take whatever help comes.
Cotton: PM received and sent.
affirmative. apology accepted, and i hope you understand that it was not my intentions to berate you for asking a question...
perhaps my reference to GMC's wacko electronics/stereo integration was too obscure... (but seriously, what are they smoking over there when they come up w/ this stuff!??)
questions are always good, but often times the details of the question make all the difference in the world.
water under the bridge.
now, you might want to take a moment to register your VIN w/ the board, so you appear as an owner vs enthusiast. click on the start button and edit your profile. they assure us that the VIN's are never used but for this purpose, but sometimes.... i'm not so sure...
j/k.
also, is there some reason/any reason that your radio might be different from the OEM? if not, it should swap out quite easily to an aftermarket head. you'll want to consider Lucid's DCI (dash controller interface) which will supply you with both an aftermarket harness and a customized controller that will integrate w/ most main brands that have an IR remote.
TR-S2K:
i honestly and deeply appreciate your statements.
thank you.

I'm glad you two worked things out. It sucks sometimes that a harmless joke can be be misconstrued and than a battle just erupts. Sometimes computer communication can be easily misinterpreted because words without body language can be pretty ambiguous.
IMO PJK3 is an amazing resource who has always been more than willing to help anyone. Do a search in the Electronics forum on just about any subject and I'm sure you will find his words of encouragement coupled with his extensive breadth of knowledge.
Cotton welcome to the thread, and I hope that you will continue to find this a friendly and helpful place. I have learned much during the holding patterns at work.

I did install the head unit and got a wiring harness from a local shop. I might get the integration piece later. I just bought a complete set of s03's and road hazzard ($734) and ($600) insurance so I'm squeezing my pennies for a few weeks. I like the controlls on the dash though. I also built a fake alarm using a $2.50 LED and the handbrake switch if any one wants pictures and an explaination.
I went to the evil place Fry's electronics (use to work there) and bought a 12v flashing red led. drilled a small hole just behind the brake lever. Mounted the LED. Connected the negative to the ground switch of the brake lever and the posative to a constant 12v source. Now when the parking brake is engaged the LED flashes and it looks like you have an alarm. It also is a good indicator that your brake is on.
