Default Clearing "interupt" from the Alphine 9833

Wife has the car today and she just called from the road to say she doesn't know what she did, but that the HU is locked down with the word "interupt" displayed. I assume this has to do with the mute/interupt function and the DCI. Hitting the dash mute button doesn't clear it, nor does the hitting the reset button. Doesn't sound like she can get into the setup functions to turn the interupt function off either. Any other suggestions I can give her over the phone?

When I installed the DCI I set it up for the interupt function (attached the dci cable to the pink (?) HU wire and I swear turned the dci toggle to IR/off. Mute was however just worked like mute and not interupt, so no clue what she did differently.

Will turning the car off and back on clear it or will it just go back to Interrupt. My dash control is wired so Mute = Interrupt.

She's made a few stops, so I can only assume that the car has been off a couple of times. In the three weeks I've been using it since I installed it, this has never happened. First time wife uses car and poof, all hell breaks loose.

I must have a loose connection and/or the dci is toggle wrong. Easy enough to check.

I wish I had the manual for my 9835 with me as I'm sure there's some corresponding key you can press or hold to release it from the interrupt. Did you check Alpine's website to see if there was anything there?

You can download an electronic version of your owner's manual here:
http://www.stylestandard.net/oswego/Rooms/...488A59940%5D%5D

If that doesn't work, go to www.alpine-usa.com select "Tech Center" at the top, then select "Consumer Site" scroll down to where the have "Owner's Manuals" then select "Head Units" , then 2004, then find 9833 and click on the download button on the far right. Good luck.

Yeah. Went through the manual while I was at work and again at home. The only mention of the "interupt" function is how to turn it on or off as a feature in the setup menu. Can't access the menu in interupt mode, resetting the the unit diesn't work, nor does disconnecting the battery.

I checked the dci and I had both the interupt function wired and the ir function on. Turned the ir function off, but that didn't get the dash mute button to function as the de-interupt button.

I'm just amazed that there isn't a way tpo clear interupt from the HU itself.

Anyone with any other suggestion. Still not finding a way to clear interupt and driving in nice weather with no radio really, really sucks.

need to check the pink wire and see if its grounded. disconnect it and see if that fixes the issue with the interrupt. if it does then the dci is throwing a negative constantly which means it either sees the input from the controls constantly or it just locked up.

maybe modifry can chime in just in case there is a setting issue with the dci.

Well the quick fix was to snip the blue DCI wire and reset the toggle to IR-mute on. That cleared the interupt and now the mute button works like mute. Still wonder if I don't have a bad DCI.
