Just had a light drizzle here in L.A., and used my windshield wipers for the first time. I used the "one click forward" timer setting, where the wipers wipe once, pause as second, then wipe again. I get a distinct double-click sound behind the dash area at the start of each wipe!

There is no clicking sound in the faster wiper settings, which leads me to believe that the on/off signal to the wiper motor is generating some noise. Has anyone else experienced this?

I believe that noise is just the intermittent timer. It's normal.

Ha! In the land of much rain and windscreen wiper usage this is a well known (if sonewhat annoying) 'feature' of the car. Dont worry!

djqube,

Ha, I experienced that also last night for the first time also. I figured that it was normal, but annoying nonetheless.

You will notice that our cars have one speed intermittent, low and high. Compare with other cars that have variable speed intermittent, low and high. Our intermittent speed is not electronic, but mechanical. We have a relay that is used to add the pause. Just like all cars have for their turn signals, which usually has the click.

So there is nothing wrong with the motor, the relay or any other part of the wiper system.

Given how hard Honda works to shave weight off the S2000, I'm surprise that the car did not came standard with a 3 year Jenny Craig membership!

I really don't think this item came in from the weight shaving side, but from the accountant side. The weight differnce from using an electronic circuit to control the wipers (giving us more then just the three speeds) compared to out relay would be very little if any. We would be talking about a few ounces (if that), so it would not have been a big deal.

For Jenny Craig, just suck the fat out; its much quicker.

I got that same annoying noise too. It sounded like the turn signal was on!
