Default Cluster Colors

I searched the files and found where someone was doing color cluster mods. Are they still around? Anyone still doing this mod?

Holy cow!!! That was an old mod indeed. I purchased one, but never got around to changing it to red to match the rest of my interior scheme at the time. Seats were stolen, so the custom leather work no longer existed and switched to tan when I had the color change.

The "kit" consists of some colored films and a white piece used in conjunction with the gels. I believe I still have this item in its original packaging(flat, stiff envelope). I do not recall the price, but want to say it was around $40.

Either Modifry or MacGyver had something in the works some time ago. I didn't follow it to its fruition.

I've had other projects ahead of the cluster color change... I'm leaning towards starting it up again once the taillight replacements are finished.

^ Please do. I have been looking for this mod for quite some time, but without a DIY or a walkthrough of sorts, I would not know where to begin. If I have steps, I can do almost anything....(sort of a no shit statement, but still ).

If you could find a way to create the boards at a reasonable cost (through a company, or something), I am sure Ricks will consider selling it on consignment, or at least buy a certain reserve amount to break you even.

Anyway, any sort of DIY or steps that need to be taken in order to change the cluster color would help me out greatly.

I am suprised Mac did not correct this....the current cluster is a digital LCD panel over incandescent bulbs, not LED's. In order to change to a darker color (blue), you would need brighter lights (LED's), but a ton of them, as the light is more directional from an LED, so more would be needed to prevent a spotty look. Then you would need filters of whatever color you want. As Mac told me in the past, the LCD panels themselves have a slight yellow tint to them, so a "true" color will be tough to get, short of changing out LCD panels, which gets REAL pricey REAL quick.

Just passing on what I have learned thus far.....r_duff has this mod in his car if you need reference pics.
