Default Cluster Display

Just a simple question: The backlight of my gauge cluster lcd is very light and is hard to see and it does not fully light up when I rev the engine past seven thousand rpm. If I get it fixed do I have to simply buy bulbs for the light? or do I have to replace the whole LCD gauge cluster. Also my roof backlight does not light up at all either.

The roof switch is just the bulb on the inside. Don't know what type of bulb it is though.

The cluster should just be a bulb too but I'm not 100% on that.

The gauge cluster takes 2 different types of bulbs. It can be replaced with a LED bulb but you may have dead spots. For an 04 AP2, the following are the bulbs you would need to replace everything:

Tach: #74 bulb with twist lock base (some places call it T1.5 bulb). Qty 5
Blinkers: #74 bulb with twist lock base. Qty 2
Speedometer: T6.5 bulb (slightly bigger than #74 bulb) with twist lock base. Qty 2
5 #74 bulbs with twist lock bases for ABS and stuff.
10 #74 bulbs with twist lock bases for the bottom row maintenance lights.

Audio Control: 3mm NeoWedge bulbs. Qty 5
Climate Control: 4mm NeoWedge bulbs: Qty 4
Cruise Control: 3mm NeoWedge bulbs: Qty 2
Defrost button: 3mm NeoWedge bulbs: Qty 2
Starter button: 3mm NeoWedge bulbs: Qty 1
Roof button: 3mm NeoWedge bulbs: Qty 1
Emergency button: 3mm NeoWedge bulbs: Qty 1

You will not be able to get the climate and audio controls the same brightness. The controls are made differently and there isn't a bulb made that will work. Climate control always ends up dimmer.

You can order the bulbs from superbrightleds.com or autolumination.com.

Hope that helps you out.

Quick follow-up, you don't have to replace everything in the gauge. You can get a replacement #74 bulb. Probably best to get a LED for the roof button if you want it brighter.

They are sensors. I believe the Tach is located on the block.
The Gas Gauge is a sending unit located in the gas tank.
Enging Temp is also located on the block
Speedometer is located on the tranny, and along with the odometer too i believe.
What is the trip meter? same as odometer? if so then should be located on the tranny
hope this helps.
