Component Speaker Recommendations?

I have 6.5" Infinity Kappa perfect components. They retail for $300+ and I got them at a steal of a price for $100. I think somebody put the wrong price on them or they were last years model marked down. They produce more than enough bass for an s2000 in my opinion. I have a Pioneer HU as well that helps with power, but they produce enough bass to feel just through the midbass speakers alone. I thought about a sub, but for the s2000 I don't think it is needed with these speakers. Good luck in your search! I did have to buy spacers to mount to the stock speaker location because they are deeper than stock speakers, but no biggie there. They were only an extra $20.
Anyways, I ended up with a pair of alpine spr-694a (first gen type r when type r was alpine's flagship model) I have the same 5.25" ones in my civic and I like them enough to use them again. They were dirt cheap.
What's your budget, turbo slug?
A good install will go a long way toward reproducing bass no matter which speakers you choose. The trick is to use Dynamat or a similar product to enclose the space behind the speaker. The more it is sealed and deadened the more bass you will hear in the cabin.

The RCA wires to running to my sub broke at the amp and I didn't realize it til days later. With the music turned up on my Infinity Kappas I couldn't really tell my sub was out of commission.
I purchased a set of the Type Rs when I had my AP2 and I liked them a lot. I did, however, have a sub as well. I originally had a set of MB Quarts (I'm sorry, I can't remember which ones), but I sold them right away... they just weren't made for the S2000....
Jake (imdarkrider) recommended them to me and I couldn't have been happier... I would say if you are looking for low end bass as well, a sub is the way to go...
which ones?
I believe the ones I had were the QSC 216s. They were paired to an Alpine HU, JL 300x4 amp and 1 10" Alphasonik sub. I was not impressed with the sound of them and switched to Type R components and was much happier.
I really wanted a pair of Focals at first but the price tag was a bit out of my budget at the time.

If your budget is high enough, I'd go with Focal. At least their K2P, or higher up their lineup. Excellent mid bass and extreme clarity even at high volume levels. I couldn't bring myself to spend the $$.
I have Boston Pro 60s. These are complimented very well by my JLW3V3 sub. The Bostons have excellent mid bass also, however the aluminum dome tweeters are very bright. If you drive top down mostly (like me) this actually works very well, as brighter speakers tend to break thru the wind noise. (MB Quarts are the opposite of bright, and tend to wash out with the top down). If you have a hardtop, or drive with the top up, the Bostons could be a bit too much. They can create some pressure levels from the tweeters, that I find annoying at high volume levels (which is how I always listen)
Hope that helps

Actually, MB Quarts are bright - maybe not as bright as the Bostons, but they are notorious for being overly bright (to the point of increasing listener fatigue).
Good tweeters don't need to be bright for you to hear the music with the top down on the highway

The Focals are very full sounding without being bright, or forward. Very accurate, no shading of the sound.
The Boston Pro 60s are very full sounding, but a forward sound, and only bright in the tweeters.
True you don't need bright speakers for top down, but you need "full" sounding speakers. Hollow, dainty speakers washout.
