Default Component Speaker Recommendations?

I'm looking to change out the stock paper cones in my car. I'd like to upgrade to components but I'm looking for a set that'll produce a reasonable amount of midbass in the S2000. So far I've heard a set of 2nd gen Alpine Type-R's. They're ok but midbass sounds like a set of speakers struggling to produce bass.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for input from people that have actually tried the product in an s2000. (Not really interested in hearing how good they sound in another car)

I have the Focal Access Components in mine and they are reasonably good. The bass doesn't blow you away but that's why I have a Sub under my seat.

I'd be willing to bet that if you were to sit in an S with a properly tuned system with a sub, you'd return to your PPI's and realize just what you're missing

Will that fit into a 2005 model (speakers and tweeters in the door) with little to no modificatins? I have an Alpine iDA x303 as my head unit, 18W RMS.

the tweeters will fit if you super-glue the tweeter to the stock bracket.

for the woofer, you need to cut out the stock basket. other than that, it fits fine. the only cutting i did was for the woofer basket. i own an 06 but i think 04+ have the newer similar door panels so it should work for you.

I have Alpine Type-R's that fit perfect and sound great.

No cutting of the basket - but I did have to super glue the tweeter brackets.

I have 6.5" Infinity Kappa perfect components. They retail for $300+ and I got them at a steal of a price for $100. I think somebody put the wrong price on them or they were last years model marked down. They produce more than enough bass for an s2000 in my opinion. I have a Pioneer HU as well that helps with power, but they produce enough bass to feel just through the midbass speakers alone. I thought about a sub, but for the s2000 I don't think it is needed with these speakers. Good luck in your search! I did have to buy spacers to mount to the stock speaker location because they are deeper than stock speakers, but no biggie there. They were only an extra $20.
