Component System Question
Josh, I just posted this in the thread about the Focal coax speakers, and saw you ask about a good deal on that brand.
the previous generation K2 Power line (165KF 6 1/2" component set) is on a clearance sale at a lot of vendors at the moment (some of whom have ebay store fronts) for around $300. here's one example:

and their listing on ebay:

Yea Philbert but are those worth the extra $100 over the Pioneer? I also read that some Focals are not as "bass heavy" as someone like myself may desire.
Sonic E is who I got my headunit from, so I have NO problem ordering from them off the Ebay machine.

Honestly, for your application going subless, the Pioneers are probably a better bet. The greatest strength of the Focals is the midrange, imo, with vocals sounding really nice. The Pioneers should have better midbass/bass.
I would try to find a local dealer to audition them if you can. Otherwise, it looks like sonicelectronix offers a 30day return policy so you have some options if you end up not liking them.

not hard at all, heat gun/ hair dryer, razor knife and time, to do it well, give about 45 minutes a door. then install speakers, and you have drastically improved your sound!

I also had 2 12" Audiobahns with a 2000 watt Memphis amp and 1 farad cap, so I know I can't see bass like that in the S2k from components, but I don't need it. I am going to keep an eye on the Ebay cash back situation and probably pick a set of the Pioneers up. Thanks for all the input everyone.
I'm running Boston Pro's as well. Actually my Second S with it's second set of Boston pro's. I'm running a GT28 to them (almost 200 watts a door). It is deafening without a hint of distortion. They fit fine with a spacer, and they are readily available (spacers) at Best Buy and most any other audio shop for under 20 bucks.
i have a set of alpine spx-17ref speakers that i'll let go for a good price if you're interested. Brand new, still sealed. i'll let them go for under ebay pricing for a brand new set
was going to install them, and then came across a great deal on some Hertz HKS speakers i decided to go with instead.

given the budget and the type of music you listen to, I'd say either Diamond or Boston. (i'd recommand at least 100W for them though)
Pioneers have a lot of mid bass, but muddy, while Focal's airy transparent sound will be totally annihilated by S2k's noise level.
