I have Alpine SPX-177a's but you dont need to buy high end like that. You can just run them off the HU for now. Believe me it will sound so much better than the stock just running a decent set of speakers off the new HU.

BTW why not just bring this to a professional for installation? It honestly doesn't sound like you really want to mess with this, so I suggest you don't. Let a professional do it for you.

Ive gone through this on my first S2000 and on my Corvette. With the loud exhaust and all the road noise these cars produce, Ive usually felt disappointed after installing a stereo and not noticing much of an improvement.

This time I am getting rid of my Js racing exhaust so I might consider investing in components and a professional install but I had an Alpine amp, Kenwood mp3 unit, and Mb Quarts in my AP1 and it still didnt sound good because of the variety of noises.

Decisions decisions.

You really need to have it install by someone that know what their doing. Don't take this the wrong way but just because you can screw in a HU and it powers up and works doesn't mean it really ready to go. It really needs to be properly tuned. If you had those components installed even with a loud exhaust it still should have sounded 100x better than stock.

I honestly think you should find a good local installer and have them install and tune it for you.

I had it installed by an S2000 owner that used to own a stereo shop. Maybe Im just not an audiophile.

Needless to say, Im gonna have to do some research on models and brands etc since I havent looked at this stuff in so long.

Might go with the Alpine 9853 or 9855 and my amp is only 75x2 which is decent.

You don't need to be an audiophile to hear the difference.

Well just make sure you get products that will work well together.

Just save up a few more weeks if its a money thing. Its worth it. Getting coax speakers to install in the doors of this car is a waste... IMHO of course. How much are you trying to spend in total?

Its a matter of if I feel its worth it.

There is no set budget.

Looks like I am going to get an Alpine headunit (9855) and I already have a 2 channel Autotek amp. Anywhere from 150-350 on components sounds reasonsable.

Last time I checked, components in that range were the Focal Polyglass, the CDTs, JL XR___, etc

I really feel that higher end stuff like Utopias or Eurosports would be a waste in this car.
