Default Components, Sub, and Amp On Stock HU?

Is it possible to install Components with an amp to power them, and a sub with an amp on a stock head unit? Anyone with experience doing this? What would I need?

I have mb quart qsd 216 6.5 components with a jl audio 300/2 running off the factory head unit. It sounds 1000 % better than factory. I know i lose some sound quality but i like the dash controls. I think i am putting quart spods off the factory rears as well.

You could do this. But you can still retain your dash's controls through a simple DCI.

By not replacing the headunit you have the whole "building a 5 star hotel in the middle of the ghetto" effect.

Yes, it is possible to install components and a sub with external amp(s) on a stock HU. You will need Line Output Converter (LOC) to convert speaker levels from stock HU to line levels to feed the amp inputs, if your amp(s) do not have speaker level inputs. You should expect low sound quality with stock HU and LOC compares with after market HU without LOC in the system. I done this before and I was not 100% satisfy with the Sound quality and controls, I currently have Nakamichi HU and it looks just like stock HU but with much better sound.

If you really want to keep the stock HU and using external LOC, then a good 4-channel LOC is PAC OEM-2 that can be bought for around $20 + shipping.
