Consensus on best indoor speakers?
Diamond's aren't what they used to be since they got bought out. I'd lean more towards either morel tempo 6 and hertz hsk165. Although, you would probably need to deaden the doors and amp them to shine. Great midbass and warm sounding tweeters.

Yeah, but those run >$200

Brand new and authorized dealer so you don't have to worry about warranty.
[QUOTE=SlimJ GBR,Nov 21 2008, 05:06 PM] Looking for new speakers for my S2000 also, seen some posts on the Diamond's with the low prices. Did a bit of research and many people say there are a lot of fakes and with a price of $200 which is quite a way below RRP (

You are correct, they aren't real Diamonds and they will not honor the warranty. A friend of mine found out the hard way.
If you aren't planning on using an external amp, you'll need speakers with a high sensitivity rating (better than 90db). An aftermarket radio typically puts out around 17 watts per channel (RMS) you'll run the chance of blowing a set of speakers if they aren't powered properly.
Crutchfield has some Infinity's and Polk's for less than $200...they also have a set of Blaupunkt's for less than $100 that look pretty good as well.

Speakers blow for one of two reasons:
1) Overpower - the speaker can't handle the heat or the voice coil bottoms out.
2) Mechanical failure - i.e. something resting on your woofer cone that affects the movement of the voice coil or a tear in the surround, etc.
To help clarify for others searching could we maybe make a top 10 list for this person? I too have been looking to upgrade my speakers but I'm starting with polk 6500's and want to know what the next steps up are.

Focal
Hertz
Rainbow
DLS
Seas
Morel
CDT
But, that's if you really want to get into a higher end install.
