Default Custom Cell Phone Mount

Any unique ideas on mounting a smart phone on the dash. (Using modifry dash mount or not)

I refuse to use a bulky universal phone holder that feels like its going to break and if not right away then definitely in the near future.

My samsung galaxy S (Captivate) does not have a legit mount that i can use with the modifry unit. Anyone have ideas?

Anyone have a mount that acts as a dock and charges the phone? (This would be amazing)

I have seen someone use some type of plastic molding product and molded it for their phone with the charger cable. UGLY but very purposeful.

Pictures would be nice. Ideas are always welcome.

I guarantee that ProClip makes a mount for your device. It might be more than what you want to pay but they definitely work with the Modifry bracket.

Yup. Made by ProClip/Brodit. Two of them, actually. One for my Droid and one for the wife's iPhone4.

One of them seems like a perfect fit for me. I wonder if its worth buying for 80 bucks tho. Probably not, what if i get a new phone.

Need a cheaper solution.

I just installed the Modifry Dash Bracket today! It was easy and looks great. I am using it for my Android. Works great and looks cool too.

Nice, starrman. I like how accessible it is next to the ac/heater controls. I will be doing this very soon.

I dont see it fit for me to spend $80 for an accessory that will be only good for the life of the phone as I can see myself having a new phone within 6-12 months, if not sooner. Instead I am planning on buying a garmin gps holder and heat the plastic to bend it to fit my phone. I have seen this work elsewhere so I thought I would give it a shot. Yeah, it's ghetto but it beats paying $80 for a legit one.

For those that have a rear usb port, What methods are you using to access it for your application?

I bought a generic windshield suction cup mount thing for my epic (galaxy s). Think it was about $12 from ebay and works fine.

Running a usb cable through the ac/heater vent a good idea?

Will the wire coating withstand the heat?

Does it require drilling and leaking of air from the vents?

I will post a picture of my setup once It is all said and done.

Worth is always highly subjective. IMO you get what you pay for.

Looks nice. What would top it off is if you can some how do some plastic work and get that wire to be permanently part of the phone holder... that way you can just drop in your phone and clip it at the top.

The reason why dont want to spend $80 on a legit cell phone mount is because I can see my self buying a better phone in the near future considering the new phones will have dual core processors.
