Custom Center Console iPhone/iPod Mount
This is my first post here in electronics.
I've recently been on an audio kick lately and have finished the first portion of my audio installation which includes my iPhone mount.
The mount is constructed of Delrin and is painted satin black. Within the next few days, I am going to paint match the mount and shifter surround to the gray/black color of the console.
The cable is connected to the USB port of my Alpine CDA-117 head unit. The wire/iPhone cord is running down a small channel just under the front of the head unit underneath the center console where the iPhone cable was epoxied into the mount. My iPhone slides right in with no matter of adjustment whatsoever. The center portion of the mount is flocked to protect the rear of any iPhone/iPod.
This mount was made for iPhone and works with iPod.
It took a while to complete (Lots of hours), but I am extremely pleased with the outcome.
The pics suck, but give you a general idea:

Drinks obstruct the shifting motion so much that I no longer used the holder for cups. I usually just carry water in a jug which I set onto the passenger seat as it did not fit into the cup holder anyway. If I need more space in the cabin, I can better utilize the center storage console.
nice work, but i dont get it, if you have a ipod controled radio, plug ipod in and hide it , dont need to see it, and if you say i phone, blue tooth to radio for calls, again dont need to see it
^^^
You're right, I have an iPod and iPhone and hiding the cable is exactly what I did. You are absolutely right, no need to see it, hence the reason it is hidden.
Unfortunately, phones don't charge via bluetooth.
