Cutting the dash
I am looking at installing some studio grade processors that I would like to put the displays/control function in the dash. The circuit board will be placed behind the seats.
The area would be above the radio over to the passenger vent.
The opening would need to be approx 3.5 inches high 19inches wide and 2 inched deep.
The depth might get bigger if I decide to do a door over the components to hid then while parked and to keep the sun off of them during car shows until the judges come around. I all ready have the DC to AC converter and the RCA unbalanced to XLR balanced converter and back to RCA from the XLR

Only running balanced XLR between the processors I have an active (powered)converter "CleanBox made by Applied Research and technology" that allows me to convert the RCA to the XLR and Vice versa.
The display/ control function of the processor are not really designed to be separated from the main units however after taking them apart the only thing that is necessary is a 20conductor ribbon cable. By putting the processor brains in the area directly behind the seats (where the vent to the trunk is) and the faces in the dash I am attempting to reduce the length of the ribbon cable to prevent loss of voltage that might lead to inability to control the processors. Original idea was to put the brains in the trunk.
Waiting on the ribbon cable to come in. Going to make sure the run from behind the seats to the dash will work before cutting the dash.

I thought somewhere that I read that it is not a requirement to use the converter box in either direction.
Something like take pins 2 and 3 of the XLR and connect them together with the shield of the RCA and then take pin one of the XLR and connect that pin to the center pin of the RCA.
Hopefully some one has tried this an it worked with out any electrical wine that way it's one less item that I must install to get this up and running.
With the ability of these processors I should be able to both SQ and db competitions.
Current calculation show with six 6.5inch subs (correct quantity of six subs each being 6.5 inch not a typo) that it is possible to hit 131.6db in a range from 38to 75HZ with a slight taper off as I approach 129db at 90HZ which is where my upper X-over point is for the subs.
This dB out put is in a measured at 1 meter from the plane of the speaker array with only 350watts RMS going to the set. Once the box goes in it will be interesting to see exactly how much cabin gain I am going to get now the Hard top is on. S2000 resonate frequency is approx 56 HZ with hardtop. The subs will be in stalled in the area behind the seats where the soft top goes when it is lowered so this set up will be LOUD!!! But remain clean and very fast response.

That is a very large db number for a convertible!
