Thumbs up for the dash cutters out there..

I am debating on how i want to go about putting a couple screens on my S.. I am really leaning towards doing the setup honda has for Japan's S for the first screen but i would like to have a motorized one coming up from the top of the dash maybe topping out against the winshield (7" screen as well) for the Nav .. while leaving that bottom one for my dva 9965 .. Is it at all possible without losing the vents for the winshield? thanks in advance to all for there 2 cents..

That's gonna be some hefty work. If you mount it all the way by the windshield, you wont be able to use the defogger vents. Also, the dash has a lot of metal running through it, and you are probably going to run into problems with the actuators. I would save myself the headache and just mold it into the dash.

You can mount one up at the top at the windshield and have the navi screen also be used as a back camera setup.

true but my concern with that would be the legality of that here in florida.. i would opt for a Rearview Mirror Monitor but for the sliding monitor over the dash i wonder how far someone has gone with one up top..

hm good point about the metal throughtout .. i figured that as far foward as i would have to set it up to get it high enough to clear the dash i wouldnt be directly in front of the vents.. thanks.. i remember someone saying theyve seen it done but i didnt see a pic..

You could purchase a used Volvo or Infinity type setup and try and fit it in the dash. I'm fairly sure both companies offer this type of setup stock. That might give you a good idea... you could even stop by the dealer and check out the unit mounted in the car. Take a few measurements.... just a thought.... but it will give you a good idea of what your looking at.

Here is what I was going to do... Remove your visors and mold in 7" screens preferably matte finish. That would allow you to retain your dash but also add in stealthy monitors all your nav and movies could play there and you could keep your eyes on the road well atleast my 6'2" ass can hehehe
