Dash mount for iPhone 4
very easy and inexpensive way around that as i did this in my truck and my car
what i did was install an aux input to headphone jack into my alpine head units that plugs into my Evo so that i can play the music / nav through the head unit and
then for power i went to the junk yard and got a cigarette lighter and then bought this
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Low-profile-U...1425718&sr=1-11
i hide the usb power port in my dash and ran the mico usb to my phone - total cost was around 20.00 -
or if you have an alpine / ipod stereo (mine is a 9884 in the car) - you only need to run the iphone wire from the head-unit and it will charge / play though the head-unit

How hard is it to install the modifry bracket? I hate cracking the dash open, do you get any noise or vibration problems after you install?
Been using one of their adjustable mounts (516165) with no problems. How would it scratch the phone if you have a case?
Pretty easy for me. YMMV if you're not very handy or patient. Cutting is required.
The bracket does flex though I think Modifry did a slight redesign after I bought mine that might help to reduce flex. It's thin steel. If you're really worried about flex it's not an issue with Panavise's bracket. However, the Panavise bracket mounts to the right of the radio.
IIRC ProClip has extender plates, quick change plates, etc that can be attached to the Modifry (or other) bracket.
Just be aware that USB charging is limited to 500mA. You can probably get more current (faster charge which helps with GPS use on any smartphone) using a non-USB charger.
Through the same opening that the Modifry bracket uses. Probably not good for the cable since it is squeezed by the dash but there's really no movement so I'm not concerned.

If you flip the car, you have other things to worry about than your iphone.
