Default DCI installed behind head unit

The instructions for the DCI install says to not put the unit behind the HU. I have a pioneer that's about half the size of the stock HU with plenty of room behind it. Anyone have any issues with the DCI installed directly behind the HU? I think it looks cleaner that way but just want to make sure there isnt heating issues. I've searched to no avail. Thanks in advance

I have installed my DCI behind my Kenwood head unit and haven't had a problem.

I'm having a tough time deciding on a HU, care to share what models you guys went with?

This is what I was considering: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KMBT...U.html?tp=5684

I have a Pioneer MVHX560BT. Can't compare to other HU but I love it so far. Sound is much better than the stock radio. My main need was bluetooth for music and phone. Don't really have a need for a CD player anymore. The HU itself is about half the depth of the stock unit since there is no CD player so there is plenty of room for wiring. I used the Modifry DCI and the pioneer adapter harness and the install was very easy. Took me about an hour to install. Has worked flawlessly so far. BT phone works pretty well at highway speeds with top down.

Looks like the Kenwood is pretty similar in price and features. I do like the feature of being able to change the HU light color on the pioneer.
