Default Decent Head unit

Hey everyone, im looking to get a decent head unit. something that can power subs and probably a decent amp. My real concern is that i like to keep my radio door closed so it has to be one that sits flush and doesnt have knobs that stick out too far.

As for price range im thinking like....325ish on Crutchfield or anyone that sells at MSRP. I plan on getting the HU from somewhere else and installing it myself. thus a 325 dollar HU on cruutchfield is gonna run in the 225-275 range.

also please keep in mind i do have focal head rest speakers (custom job) and id like to get a small amp to power those plus some 5 1/4's in the "lower back" portion of the car. so keep in mind the preamp out put volts.

let the suggestions begin

oh, and please only post suggestions that you know for a fact will let the radio door close.

Thanks

EDIT: i also was looking into the kenwoods but was told the knobs stick out too far to be able to close the door...any truth to this?

2nd edit: Id also like to avoid flip down or motorized faces cause i like the "direct insertion" (hehe) of the CD wihtout screwing with more stuff.

My Kenwood fits perfectly, there is enough clearance and it does not knock on anything. I've got the Kenwood BT838U Head Unit. I would highly recommend it!

How much you get your HU for? i got the same one, but when it first came out, wondering the price difference now. I recommend this HU too, it's great. My sound quality went up a bit, and it's very user friendly.I believe it's also the only HU with Bluetooth built right into it, at least it was when i first got it, most HU need an extra unit to handle the bluetooth.

I'm also looking into getting speaker upgrades, any recommendations? I'm looking to have a budget of about $200-$300.

I also like Alpines, and with Modifry's DCI (dash control interface) and plug-n-play harness, Alpine is very user friendly to install and use.

My HU was $300 CAD I believe. Got it a while back. As far as speakers go, I recommend Morel Tempo 6's or Focal's. If you want more information and a lot more help, PM Neutered Sputniks.
