Default defective 9815

I understand there are a host of reasons why my new 9815 may be cutting out but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this - it was ok for a while - and is ok some but it starts cutting out look its losing power or something - not over bumps - I pulled it twice and checked the wiring twice and jiggled things but it seems to have a mind of its own - otherwise its fine and it. along with the spods (thank you mark), the new front speakers, etc - its coming togeather - thank you everyone for the assist - this forum rules

btw - I stopped by and saw a my04 after having only 4,000 on my my03 - there is something about its look that struck me as too calm - maybe it was the color. I drove it and it was as fun and has some smoothing out of feel - they offered a good deal but I think I'll stick with the My03.

Considering the issues you've been having with this install I would suggest taking this to a professional and having them take a look at it.

Well then, make sure your connections are all properly soldered. Properly soldered = twist the wires together, heat them, then touch the solder to the wire joint not the soldering iron while still applying heat.

I'm assuming this is a power issue, so triple check your ground. Make sure it's connected to exposed metal, and bolted or screwed down firm.

And yes power issues will be intermittent like this, especially a poor ground connection.

It seems like I remember reading another thread where a member had issues with his 9815 cutting out. Try doing a search on alpines and you might find the thread. ACtually here it is... link. ACtually the thread starter had problems with a 9813 but about halfway down the page Karl O. had a similar problem with his 9813. And he states his installer has had multiple problems with 9813's and 9815's. I'm not saying this is related, but it sounds similar.

1) Does the whole unit lose power or not- i.e. does the illumination switch off, does the clock lose memory, etc ?

2) Does the illumination stay on, but the sound cuts on and off? If so, does it happen with one
particular source or with all of them?

3) Do you have amplifiers? Or are you using the deck's built in power?

It kind of sounds you like one of the speaker leads is touching ground (i.e. metal) and the deck is going into current protect. Dunno though, could be a lot of different things.
